Olympic officials have announced that the first Winter Sports Meeting will take place on January 10 in Rio de Janeiro.
The event will be held on a giant outdoor stage and will be televised on the Olympic Channel.
The official opening ceremony will be hosted by Brazil’s President, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
The Winter Sports meeting is expected to bring together more than 200 athletes from more than 60 countries and territories.
Rio will host the Summer Games in 2020 and the Winter Games in 2022.
The Rio Olympics and the Olympics Games in London were the two biggest events in Rio in recent years, drawing about 1.3 million people to the venues.
Rio has also become a hotbed for the burgeoning international sporting community.
The IOC, the world body that runs the Olympic Games, says it is committed to helping to make the Games a more global event.
