A group of left-wing Twitter users are calling for a boycott of President Donald Trump’s speech at the United Nations on Thursday.
The rally is scheduled to take place at the UN headquarters in New York, where the UN General Assembly is holding its session.
The United Nations has been in the news for the past week, after a series of bomb threats, a shooting, a bombing, and a shooting spree at the US Capitol.
In response, President Trump signed an executive order banning citizens of six majority-Muslim nations from entering the US for 90 days, while the White House announced a new plan to build a wall along the US-Mexico border.
The event was previously slated for Thursday night.
The Trump administration also announced a series or “security-related” actions that will include the relocation of UN staffers and other UN employees from Washington DC to New York.
The group calling for the boycott is calling for all members of the left-leaning social media platform “Piss Off” to “join us.”
In a video shared on Twitter, Piss Off said, “Join us, boycott Trump.
Join us, denounce the president.
Join our fight.
We are not going away.
Join #PissOff and join us.”
Piss off is a name given to the leftist group that promotes “progressive values.”
The group has a Facebook page, which has more than 2,000 likes, and an Instagram account, which recently amassed more than 10,000 followers.
The president has repeatedly expressed outrage over the bomb threats.
In late September, Trump was forced to cancel his scheduled speech at UN headquarters.
The speech was supposed to focus on the UN’s role in combating climate change, the opioid crisis, and the need for a “peaceful transition” of power in North Korea.
According to Pissoff, “Trump should apologize to the people of North Korea for not taking this matter seriously.
He should apologize for not doing enough to stop North Korea from threatening the world.”
P.S. The UN was founded in 1945 and has an annual budget of more than $1.4 billion.
